    Sponsored Programs - Land Grant Extension (USDA-NIFA) - Ongoing Community Mental Health Addressed Through Cultural Connections and Experiential Therapy The Red Lake Nation College Extension Program focuses on community mental health and wellness and interactions with natural resources through Ojibwe traditional practices. We have in-person and online workshops in traditional practices, mental and physical health, and cultural connections for students and community members of all ages. A new healing garden is also being established. See [Link to Extension Web Page] for more details. Other RLNC Extension Program awards include: Healing Garden and Traditional Foodways Workshops North Central Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) Garden and Workshops - 2021 ($5,000) Supports development of the RLNC Extension Program healing garden located in the back of the college campus and traditional food workshops for students and community members. EXCITE - 2021-22 ($26,794) Extension Collaboration on Immunization Teaching and Engagement Covid-19 Focus: Vaccinate with Confidence (Activity 1) This is an extension collaboration on COVID-19 immunization teaching and engagement for students. Equity (USDA-NIFA) - Ongoing Institutional Capacity Building: Development and Presentation of Curriculum and Instructional Materials to Enhance Student Learning Focuses on curricula design and materials development to enhance student learning by making lessons more engaging, relevant, and culturally responsive to the educational needs and interests of our Native students. Research (USDA-NIFA) - 2020-22 ($60,000) Soil Properties and Impacts of Cover Crops: Student Research at Red Lake Nation College This is a collaboration between RLNC and the Grossman Lab at UMN-Twin Cities. Each RLNC student research intern is paired with a UMN graduate student mentor. Cover crop research plots have just been established on the Red Lake farm by the 3 interns in 2021 and the Grossman Lab team. Student interns will collect data on cover crops, insect visitors, and soil properties and present research posters on their results in collaboration with their mentors. Facilities Support (USDA- RD) - Annual This annual funding is available through the USDA-Rural Development Tribal College Initiative Grants program. At RLNC, we use it to support building maintenance equipment, computer replacement cycle, vehicles, and other equipment needs.     COVID-19 Prevention on Campus Protect & Respect The best way for us to ensure the safety of everyone in our RLNC family, and those in the surrounding communities, is to continue to follow the science, the latest data, and our 7 Ojibwe Values of COURAGE, LOVE, HUMILITY, WISDOM, HONESTY, TRUTH and RESPECT. COVID-19 & Variants COVID-19 remains an ongoing concern, especially with the more contagious Delta variant that is spreading throughout the nation. As of mid-August 2022, the community transmission is considered a “medium” transmission rate. COVID-19 Vaccines All COVID-19 vaccines in the U.S. have been approved for emergency use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Formal approval is expected this fall (Sept./Oct. 2021.) The COVID-19 vaccine is a required condition of employment for all RLNC faculty and staff. Masks are Encouraged on RLNC Red Lake Campus Masks are no longer mandatory, but are encouraged in all indoor public spaces and classrooms at RLNC. Reusable masks are encouraged. Extra masks are available from RLNC Reception. Temp Checks & Physical Distancing Temperature checks are not currently required to enter the RLNC campus in Red Lake. However that may change as conditions change. Physical distancing of at least 3 feet is recommended. Hand Washing/Sanitizing & Enhanced Cleaning Frequent hand washing and sanitizing is encouraged. Our maintenance team conducts enhanced cleaning/disinfecting of all RLNC campus facilities.

    Student Right-to-Know Student Handbook Institutional Data Graduation and Transfer-Out Rates Student Right-to-Know is a federal law that requires all colleges and universities to disclose certain information to students on graduation rates and transfer-out rates for full-time students seeking degrees at Red Lake Nation College. The Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) calculates graduation rates as follows: Number of students entering the institution as full-time, first-time degree or certificate-seeking students in a particular year (cohort), by race/ethnicity and gender; Number of students completing their program within a time period equal to one and a half times (150%) the normal period of time, by race/ethnicity, gender, and Pell status; and Number of students who transferred to other institutions. Must be a regular or associate member of AIHEC and all AIHEC membership dues must be current and paid in full. 2. May only register one men’s team and one women’s team. 3. Must adhere to the standardize constitution and bylaws. 4. May be denied eligibility for any reason by a majority vote of the AIHEC Athletic Commission. Coach Eligibility All coaches participating in the tournament: 1. Must sign the AIHEC Coach’s Code of Conduct (Form Included). 2. Must be designated by the TCU president, cannot be a student of the TCU, and must be present during the games in which their teams are competing. Player Eligibility All student-athletes participating in the tournament: 1. Must sign the AIHEC Student-athlete’s Code of Conduct (Form Included). 2. Must be enrolled in a minimum of 9 semester/quarter credits with I) a cumulative G.P.A. of a 2.0 II) a G.P.A. of at least a 2.0 in the last term prior to the semester/quarter of the tournament, and III) the student must be considered in good academic standing at their institution. The cumulative G.P.A. shall not be calculated further than 10 academic terms in the past. The student athlete must also be making satisfactory progress toward a degree program 3. Length of eligibility at AIHEC Tournament will be 4 years at a 2 year institution or 5 cumulative years at a 4 year institution regardless of institution, tribal or mainstream. Verification will occur in the registration forms of the individual AIHEC-sanctioned sports. 4. First-term student-athletes must submit a grade check form (use AIHEC First-term Student-Athlete Grade Check Form). Note: Faculty Signatures and Dates must be within 14 days of the start of the AIHEC Tournament. 5. There is no age limit for student athletes to compete. Students under the age of 18 years old must have written parental consent to compete 6. A student athlete may represent the institution while enrolled as a graduate or professional student or while enrolled and seeking a second baccalaureate degree at the same institution 7. A student athlete cannot be a full-time TCU employee. 8. Students must maintain amateur status in the specific sport in which he/she is competing. If an agent or 3rd party participation results in a contract for a student athlete at any time during their collegiate career, the student athlete will forfeit their amateur status and will be not be permitted to participate in any AIHEC sanctioned sporting event. 9. Transfer student athletes must have been deemed academically eligible at their previous institution(s) prior to attending and participating in athletics at the transfer institution. The transfer student athlete must reestablish academic eligibility to participate in the transfer institution’s AIHEC-sanctioned athletic program (use the AIHEC Transfer Eligibility Form). 10. Student athletic eligibility is based on college enrollment and standing and does not require the student to be American Indian. 11. Student athlete eligibility must be verified by the Registrar and a Representative of the institution designated by the president Any suspected violations of student eligibility should be reported to the AIHEC Athletic Commission prior to the start of AIHEC-sanctioned sporting events. The AIHEC Athletic Commissioners will determine if any TCU or student athlete is in violation and whether or not a penalty needs to be assessed. If the commission determines that a student athlete is in violation of the AIHEC student athlete eligibility, the student athlete will be removed from participation in all AIHEC-sanctioned events until they are eligible. Any Tribal College or University that continues to permit the participation of a student athlete in violation of the AIHEC student athlete rules of eligibility will be disqualified from any ongoing AIHEC-sanctioned events.
