Student Government 24-25 Student Government President: Riley Roy VP: Gracelyn Seikas Treasurer: Alyssa Fisher-Vizenor Secretary: Tracy Lussier Directors: Liz White, Delicia Roy, Roxanne Lajeunesse, Tierra Cook. The Student Government is composed of eight student representatives from the student body. RLNC student members, through annual elections, select students to serve on the Student Government. It is the responsibility of the Student Government to conduct business according to its approved By-laws. 2024-25 RLNC Student Government Members Student Government Officers consist of a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Membership is open to any student at RLNC. Students are encouraged to meet the Student Government's monthly meetings. Student Government Responsibilities To engage in and/or coordinate activities necessary for the purpose of advocating and supporting endeavors by the Student Members or by the RLNC, providing that such endeavors focus on promoting quality in American Indian Higher Education. To conduct regular and special business meetings of the Student Governmentas may be deemed necessary to fulfill the purpose and responsibilities of the organization. To inform all constituents of the Student Government of all pertinent business actions and organizational activities of the Student Government. To communicate student concerns to Administration. Faculty Senate (Gaa-Biminizha'igewaad) The Red Lake Nation College Faculty Senate is responsible for representing faculty interests through shared governance with RLNC administration. The Faculty Senate is responsible for exercising its authority in ensuring that academic freedom is encouraged and protected, and for acting as a guiding body to oversee curriculum that promotes student learning through rigorous course of study. The Faculty Senate is responsible for proposing, evaluating, and advising on actions or policies that support the mission of Red Lake Nation College to provide quality education that is grounded in the Ojibwe language and culture of the Red Lake Nation. Academic Records The Registrar's Office is responsible for maintaining information regarding students’ academic progress at RLNC, including grade reports and permanent academic records. The Registrar's Office also collects and maintains current and accurate student information, such as tribal enrollment status, address, program of study, and names of academic advisor(s). This information is required by the federal government for determination of funding, so any changes of personal data, such as change of address, change of program, or change of advisor, should be reported to the Registrar’s Office. RLNC requires a written authorization (FERPA Release of Information Form linked at right) signed by the student, before releasing information such as student grades, transcripts, and other data, in compliance with the Family Education Rights & Privacy Act (FERPA), which governs the privacy of student records. Directory-type information/data, however, may be given to any inquirer without written authorization from the student. This includes the following: Student Name Local address and telephone number Permanent address and telephone number E-mail address Place of birth Major field of study Dates of attendance and of program completion Full- or part-time enrollment status Year in school (class) Diplomas/certificates awarded Scholastic honors and awards received Other educational institutions attended Visual image Students may request that any or all of this information remain confidential by completing a FERPA Non-Disclosure Request Form (use link at right) and returning it to the Registrar's Office. Application: Apply online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/R67QNSJ Annual Amount: Varies depending on available funds and fundraisers throughout the academic year Eligibility: Must be a full-time student (at least 12 credits). Must have good attendance. Completed one semester of college. Minimum of 3.00 GPA (grade point average) per semester. Must have participated or volunteered service in college events such as Earth Day, etc. Essay on what your plans are after graduation, maximum of 500 words.
