Summer Reading is Back at Medweganoonind Library

BAM! POW! READ! WIN! – Graphic novels/comic books are the theme of this year’s summer reading program at Medweganoonind Library.  The program will run the entire month of July for kids ages 0 to 16.

“Research shows the importance of summer reading to prevent summer learning loss in students,” said Library Director, Ignacio Mendez. “The goal of the summer reading program is to make reading fun and to instill a love of reading and lifelong learning.” According to Mendez, the month-long program will include storytime, crafts, and of course -- reading.”

Storytime
Storytime will be offered for younger children and their caregivers every Tuesday at 10:30 AM throughout the month of July.

Crafts
Crafts for younger children will be offered after each storytime. Grab-and-Go crafts will also be available for older children.

Reading
Kids and caregivers are invited to pick up a reading log at the library (or download and print) to track their reading from July 1 through 31. Each child who turns in a completed reading/listening log will receive a prize. Smaller prizes will be given for each additional log they turn in. In addition, awards will be given to the top readers and all reading/listening logs will be entered into a grand prize drawing. So, the more each child reads (or is read to), the better their chances of winning!

Winners will be announced on Aug. 1, 2022.
