Accreditation is a process of assuring that institutions of higher education provide high-quality academic programming. Regional accreditation provides assurance to other institutions of higher education of the quality of academic courses and improves the transfer process from one institution to another.

Red Lake Nation College became a Candidate Institution with the Higher Learning Commission (a regional accreditation body) on November 17, 2016, and will have their Initial Accreditation Site Visit in April 2020.  The Red Lake Nation College is a 501(c) 3, non-profit organization, chartered by the Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians, and incorporated in the state of Minnesota.
